Last updated Nov 30, 2025
1. Overview
wrds (“the App”) is a language learning application. The App offers free access to lessons 1–9. Lessons 10 and onwards are locked until you upgrade to a paid subscription. We offer two subscription tiers: wrds+ and wrds Pro. These Terms of service (“Terms”) govern your use of the App and any in-app purchases. By using the App, you agree to these Terms. These Terms supplement and do not replace Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) .
2. Subscriptions (wrds+ and wrds Pro)
- wrds+ access: Unlocks all lessons (lessons 10 and onwards).
- wrds Pro access: Includes everything in wrds+ (all lessons) and adds the AI synonym checker powered by Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models framework).
- Price: Prices are shown in the App Store at purchase and may vary by region, currency, taxes, or Apple pricing tiers.
- Billing and auto-renewal: Your Apple ID is charged at purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel: Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Free trials (if offered): Unused trial portions are forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
- Device requirements: Some features (e.g., the AI synonym checker) require compatible hardware/software. Availability may vary by device, OS version, and region.
3. Payments and taxes
All payments are processed by Apple via the App Store using your Apple ID. Final pricing may vary by region.
4. Content and availability
We may update, modify, or remove content for quality, accuracy, or compliance. Access to subscription content requires an active subscription and a compatible device. Some content or features may require an internet connection for initial availability and periodic verification.
5. Account and eligibility
You must comply with Apple’s App Store terms and be legally able to enter a binding agreement. You are responsible for the security of your device and Apple ID. We are not responsible for unauthorized purchases made through your Apple ID.
6. Refunds
Billing is handled by Apple. Refunds are subject to Apple’s policies. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.
7. License and acceptable use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to reverse engineer, copy, redistribute, or resell the App or its content.
8. Intellectual property
All content in the App (including lessons, text, artwork, UI, and trademarks) is owned by us or our licensors and protected by applicable laws.
9. Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy policy, which explains what data we collect and how we use it.
10. AI synonym checker (wrds Pro)
The AI synonym checker uses Apple Intelligence (Foundation Models). Availability depends on device and OS compatibility. By using this feature, you acknowledge that processing may occur on-device and, where enabled by Apple, via Apple’s secure infrastructure. See the Privacy policy for details.
11. Changes to the App or Terms
We may update the App and these Terms. Material changes take effect when posted in the App or on this website. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the App fraudulently or unlawfully. You may stop using the App at any time and can cancel your subscription in Apple ID settings.
13. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The App is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied. To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the 3 months prior to the claim.
